At first he wasn’t allowed to tweet, now he doesn’t want to. Donald Trump prefers to stay on his own platform. The new Twitter boss Elon Musk doesn’t like it at all, and he responds – as usual – offended.
Musk probably had imagined it very differently: the new owner of the text service had reactivated Trump’s profile after nearly 51.8 percent voted for it in a poll. But the ex-president gives a damn. Instead, he stays on his own online platform Truth Social: “Twitter is in huge trouble right now. I see no reason to return. Truth Social is going through the roof right now.”
“Don’t Tempt Us”
Musk’s answer was not long in coming. He taunted Trump on Twitter with an obscene image of Jesus praying next to a woman posing provocatively. Jesus is titled “Donald Trump”, the woman’s genitals are covered with the Twitter logo. Musk writes, “And lead us not into temptation.” The new Twitter boss was previously regarded as a supporter of the former US president.
Trump contractually bound to Truth Social
There are reasons why Trump whistles on Twitter: The former US president is contractually bound to Truth Social. His posts must appear exclusively on the platform for at least six hours. Election campaigns and calls for donations are excluded. But the whole thing has one downside: Trump has just under five million followers on Truth Social. On Twitter, however, the number has grown to 83 million. With his publicized image, Musk rightly asks how long Trump can resist temptation.
