A motorist drove away from the Viennese police at an enormous speed on Wednesday night. After the driver overtook a tram in front of a police patrol, a chase ensued. The speeder was sometimes almost five times (!) as fast as allowed.
It was shortly after midnight when the police officers in the Neubau district noticed the traffic offender. He drove too fast and just overtook a tram near the stop. The officials narrowly avoided a collision with the rowdy and gave chase.
140 km/h instead of 30
The speed demon completely ignored the red traffic light in his escape – just one of many violations, as the management reported on Wednesday. However, the speed reached by the driver when he fled left him speechless: a top speed of 140 km/h instead of the permitted 30.
Drivers license? no
In the Kirchengasse it was over – the speeder could be stopped. The driver’s license could not be taken from the 20-year-old because he does not have one. A small amount of drugs, presumably cannabis, was found in the vehicle. The suspect refused the doctor. The suspect received several reports, he was of course not allowed to drive further – the key was taken from him.
