Vienna police are still investigating possible perpetrators who allegedly brutally murdered and robbed a 79-year-old after a brutal break-in at a new building. The pensioner died in hospital a few days later. According to the police, further information has now been received after the announcement of a reward.
The new information is now being examined in detail, the management said when asked. At the attack on May 19, investigators could not rule out either a robbery or a sexual offense.
50,000 euros for useful information
On Tuesday, 50,000 euros were offered for crucial information that led to the arrest of the perpetrators. Last Thursday, the case was also covered in the Servus TV format “Fahhrung Österreich”. There were already seven tips. There have been two more since Tuesday.
Asking questions was no longer possible
The woman suffered serious head injuries. She survived in hospital for five days, but police were unable to question her due to her poor health.
The police are still asking for the help of the public in this case:
- “Has anyone been told about this act or heard of a person with relevant perpetrator knowledge speaking about it?
- Before, during or after the crime, did you make any suspicious and relevant observations in the Vienna-Neubau area, Bandgasse 9?
- Has anyone seen the victim in the company of other people?
- Are there any ‘elderly’ women who have also been attacked at home by a stranger and have become the victim of an (attempted) crime, but have not reported it to the police out of shame or fear?”
Tips – also anonymous – are accepted at any police station, as well as directly from the Vienna Criminal Investigation Department on telephone number 01-31310-33800.
