Detected with scanner – passenger gives up live cat in suitcase

Date:

Security personnel at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport recently made a shocking discovery. During a baggage check last week, a live cat was found in a suitcase on scanner images.

The orange animal was in a closed suitcase that a passenger had given up for a flight, a spokeswoman for the American road safety agency TSA told the German news agency dpa.

The cat, reportedly in good condition, was discovered during routine checkups. The passenger stated that the cat belonged to someone else in his household. He then used a special transport container. No punishment awaits him, it was said.
