Israeli forces killed two Palestinian civilians today in villages near the city of Jenin, in the north of the West Bank, in clashes over “anti-terrorist operations” that Israeli forces have been carrying out in Palestinian territory in recent weeks.

The death toll rises to six in the last 24 hourssince yesterday, three Palestinians – including a 14-year-old boy – were also shot dead by the Israeli army in several violent incidents in various places in the West Bank, and today another injured man died.

15 people have died by shooting by the Israeli army in a little over two weeks After a shooting last Thursday by a Palestinian in the city of Tel Aviv that killed three civilians, Israeli security forces shot and killed four Palestinians in the West Bank between Sunday and Monday: one in a raid, another for throwing Molotov cocktails to vehicles, one woman for stabbing a police officer and another for running towards a group of soldiers.

This tension in the West Bank coincides with the Islamic holy month Ramadan, a sensitive time that led to the escalation of the war between Israel and the Gaza militias last year, following violent protests in Jerusalem.

The Palestinian National Authority’s (PNA) foreign ministry today condemned “the crimes of the Israeli occupation”, describing it as “appalling continuous carnage” after the recent deaths.

The strike, called by the ruling Fatah party, “covers all areas of commercial life, the public and private sectors,” reported the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, which released a video of the central streets of the city of Ramallah showing the most of their businesses and branches are closed.
