What an unbearable sound! On the floor above two intensive care units in Building B of the Kepler Clinic in Linz, people lift and scrape, below patients and intensive care nurses suffer, some of whom wear hearing protection like employees on the airport runway. The low point: Recently, a dying child lay in the noise for a long time, which is also documented by sound recordings (see video above).
OR member Helmut Freudenthaler saw the intensive care video and was shocked: “The recorded video shows a dying child with 80 decibel construction noise and debris from the ceiling. The dying child heard the noise (as everyone fell asleep) and had to take medication as a result to get.” The intensive care nurse present writes in a report to the staff representative: “Unfortunately, the child is in the presence of his parents who died on the same day. Fortunately, the workers were already ready at this stage. Unimaginable if parents also use the excavators with their dying child, rotary hammers and impact drills.”
