Demonstrations were again held on Saturday in Vienna, Graz, Vorarlberg and Klagenfurt against inadequate social and climate policies. The motto of the Fridays for Future campaigns this time was: “Prices down, out of gas!”
“The climate crisis and the social crisis are more closely intertwined than ever before. There is no longer a gap between rich and poor in Austria. There is a gap,” said climate activist Paula Dorten in a broadcast.
Last rally on the Wiener Praterstern
In Klagenfurt, the protest started at noon on Arthur-Lemisch-Platz. From 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, a sea of signs took place on the Herrengasse in Graz. In Vienna, the demonstration started at 2 p.m. at Wien-Mitte and ended with a closing meeting at 3:30 p.m. at the Praterstern.
“Warm apartments instead of a hot climate”
“It should not be the case that many are forced to save because of the prohibitively high energy costs, while others live in abundance as if there is no tomorrow. We want warm apartments instead of a warm climate: ban luxury emissions, insulate buildings and reduce CO2 emissions,’ continues activist Dorten.
