The strike begins this Monday and will last for five consecutive days after unions rejected the latest bid from the Biscayan Federation of Metal Companies on Friday. The sector has already had 11 strike days in a row.

The metal unions of Bizkaia start this monday a strike for five consecutive days for “a decent deal” they rejected the latest bid from the Biscayan Federation of Metal Companies (FVEM) after last Friday.
All representative union federations of the sector – ELA separately, and LAB, CCOO and UGT together – have decided to maintain the call and continue the strikes, this time for five days, taking into account “insufficient” proposal from the employer.
FVEM offered salary increases of 6.5% for 2022, 3.5% for 2023, 2.5% for 2024 and 1.5% for 2025 at the November 25 meeting, representing a total of 14% for the 2022 term -2025.
The unions, which have been on strike for six days so far, they rejected the proposal and they decided to maintain the call for 24-hour strikes from November 28 to December 2.
From CCOO, LAB and UGT they accused the FVEM of “organizing a farce” at the last meeting of the negotiating table of the agreement, which “forces the sector to strike”, already 11 days of strikes.
For its part, ELA described the proposal from the Biscayan Metal employers’ association as “deeply inadequate” and warned that “there are more reasons than ever to fight” for a deal that “not only guarantees immediate increases in CPI across the industry, with application guarantees, but also shorten the working day and increase the rights“.
