Traffic jams and accidents – train strike creates chaos in early traffic

Date:

Traffic jams as far as the eye can see: The current strike of the Austrian railways is already causing many traffic jams and accidents in the morning. Traffic experts warn on Twitter about traffic congestion on Austrian roads.

There are currently huge delays in road traffic, especially in the metropolitan areas of the provincial capitals and in Vienna. Train traffic in Austria has been halted since midnight. The reason for the strike is the failed KV negotiations. The ARBÖ tweets about new traffic jams every minute – especially in Vienna. “Keep calm in the event of delays and be considerate of other road users,” the ARBÖ warns on social media.

Switch to Wiener Linien
In Vienna, the city entrances, Altmannsdorfer Strasse, the southern autobahn (A2), the southeastern tangent (A23) and the autobahn along the banks of the Danube (A22) are particularly affected. Traffic experts recommend using public transport in Vienna. The Wiener Linien runs on schedule and the Badner Bahn also runs every 15 minutes.

There are already traffic jams and delays in Salzburg as well, as Salzburg’s local railways, Pinzgau’s local railways and the city trolley bus have all been down. Public transport in Innsbruck is only available with restrictions, while there are no restrictions in Graz.

student excused
Commuters are therefore advised to avoid unnecessary journeys by car and to stay in the home office. On Monday, tens of thousands of students who do not pass the lesson will also receive an apology.

Westbahn dependent on ÖBB
