The flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet was badly damaged after an explosion – according to Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych, the missile cruiser Moskva was even sunk. The Russian Defense Ministry said earlier that a fire detonated the ammunition on board. The governor of the Ukrainian region around the Black Sea port of Odessa, on the other hand, claimed that the ship was hit by two Ukrainian missiles.
“Where is the Moscow River? It has sunk,” Arestovych wrote on Twitter and Telegram. Confirmation of this claim is not yet available. Ukrainian television picked up Arestovych’s tweet anyway. Russia only spoke of serious damage. The crew has been evacuated, according to Moscow.
Those in charge in Kiev reported that the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet was hit by two Ukrainian Neptune missiles – however, the Russian Defense Ministry admitted only a fire and a subsequent explosion. The cause of the fire has not been disclosed. Rocket attacks on Ukrainian territory were carried out from the Moscow River.
