After an attempted robbery last summer, the next shock followed for a jeweler in the Tyrolean town of Kufstein: a stranger broke into the shop window and helped himself to the jewellery. Hope is now pinned on a description of the perpetrator based on the surveillance video.
A rough awakening for the Kufstein jewelers family Güley: Friday night at 2.25 am the alarm went off – an unknown perpetrator had smashed the shop window with a heavy stone and used chains, rings, bracelets and earrings. “It’s unfortunate and just sad,” Reyhan Güley, the junior manager’s wife, said during the cleanup.
The loot amount is around 8000 euros. “In addition, there is the damage caused by the broken window. We will have to consider whether we will use strong bulletproof glass now,” Güley said of “Krone”. Fortunately, people are insured against such crimes.
Two minutes was enough
There are surveillance camera recordings of the lightning intrusion, which she says should have lasted less than two minutes. However, the darkness renders them meaningless, but the police are looking for a slim man wearing a black jacket and a white emblem on the left sleeve. The 1.60 meter tall perpetrator wore a black woolen hat and white sneakers.
The Kufstein police station is just a few hundred meters from the crime scene on Georg-Pirmoser-Strasse in the city center. “Several patrols were alerted, but the perpetrator had already fled and since then there has been no trace,” says a local police officer.
During the summer raid, the employees remained fearless
The jeweler was already targeted on July 13 last year: two robbers demanded money from an employee, who bravely refused to hand over the money or goods and even attacked the perpetrators with a crutch, who fled. A few days later, the police arrested a resident (16) and an Afghan (18).
