Fire alarm Saturday morning in Telfs in Tyrol: A fire probably broke out in the apartment of a 74-year-old resident from a cigarette. A neighbor made the emergency call, another started the first attempts to extinguish the fire. The pensioner and one of the helpers had to be taken to hospital.
Around 9 a.m., the fire brigade received a report of a house fire at Telfer Krehbachgasse. An observant neighbor (71) noticed the fire and immediately raised the alarm. A 46-year-old – also a resident of the apartment building – entered the apartment and started the first extinguishing work, the police said when asked by “Krone”.
The emergency services were able to quickly get the situation under control and extinguish the fire. The 74-year-old woman and 46-year-old helper had to be taken to the Innsbruck Clinic or Hall State Hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.
Cigarette in trash can
Police investigators currently believe that a cigarette thrown into a rubbish bin may have started the fire. There was massive damage to property in the residence. The Telfs fire brigade with 30 men and five vehicles, the ambulance and the police came into action.
