A long straight stretch, extremely high speed, a roundabout as a launching pad: this explosive mix has now become the tragic fate of six men in the Neunkirchen district. As reported, the horror crash that left four dead and two seriously injured on Thursday evening kept rescuers in the Neunkirchen district on edge.

Six construction workers
The vehicle with six passengers – the men are construction workers from Sweden and Latvia between the ages of 27 and 34 – drove along Neunkirchener Allee around 9:30 p.m. The vehicle was thrown into the air as if by a catapult, rolled over several times and only landed on its roof about 100 meters away in a wooded area. A following driver called 911.

“Trash everywhere”
A large contingent of police, rescue and fire services were called to the scene of the accident on the B17 in the St. Egyden am Steinfeld area in the Neunkirchen district. When rescuers arrived at the scene of the accident, they saw a horrific scene: “In addition to the injured, debris from the vehicle was scattered everywhere,” said a rescuer.

Five of the six occupants were thrown from the car when it rolled over. Another person was reportedly trapped in the vehicle during the accident. “Rescue measures were immediately initiated. Despite all efforts, four men died at the scene of the accident, two were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, a 29-year-old was flown to Wiener Neustadt State Hospital and a 34-year-old was airlifted. helicopter to Graz University Hospital.

“The victims are construction workers – a 33-year-old Swedish citizen and three Latvian citizens aged 27, 30 and 34,” explained police spokesman Johann Baumschlager, asked by Krone. It is not yet clear who was driving the car involved in the crash at the time of the accident. To identify the driver, the clothing of the accident victims and the wreckage have been seized for criminal investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

Such dramatic accidents are rare
“Such a dramatic accident is very rare at the moment,” says a police officer. The intersection was specifically defused by the authorities many years ago. The accident driver was apparently traveling at a very high speed when the roundabout “surprised” him without braking. The investigation is ongoing. The horror of the horror crash was written on many faces for a long time – as one of the most dramatic operations of the past twenty years.
