In Spain, police have arrested 30 suspected drug dealers who allegedly disguised marijuana shipments as humanitarian aid to Ukraine to get the drug across borders. In addition to an unknown number of Germans, those arrested also included Ukrainians, Spaniards and Moroccans, the Civil Guard police unit said on Monday.
The detainees are charged with drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons and membership of a criminal organization. House searches in the cities of Málaga, Granada, Córdoba and Seville in the southern Spanish region of Andalusia seized a total of €800,000 in cash (photos below), six firearms and large quantities of marijuana.
Wanted to bypass police and border controls
To get the marijuana from Andalusia to several European countries, the disbanded gang “transported the boxes in vans whose drivers pretended to be part of a solidarity caravan” to evade police and border controls, according to the Civil Guard.
