The allegations made by animal rights activists against the police in Klagenfurt carry a lot of weight: slaps in the face, scrapes, humiliation. All this is said to have happened during arrests during a protest against bad pig farming. The authorities are now investigating themselves; however without knowing the alleged victims.
The protest of the VGT, the association against animal factories, is just as justified as it is targeted. Of course, Easter was chosen as the ideal time to point out the cruelty-free pig farming on slatted floors; the time when most pork is eaten. And targeted protests such as the one before the Chamber of Agriculture in Klagenfurt naturally also require targeted provocation to attract attention.
So the police intervened
On Thursday, the police promptly intervened; three arrests were made. In addition, the allegations of VGT: A man has been insulted, handcuffed and beaten. A second person suffered abrasions to his knees, a third had to undress during the interrogation
Accusations are taken seriously
The fact is, all three were released after a few hours. The VGT is now outraged and speaks of legal action. The police say they take the allegations seriously and want to investigate.
Victims are unknown
However, it is not known who the victims are. All three have refused to disclose their identities. The police doctor found no injuries and none of the people said anything.
