A car that caught fire in the municipality of Götzens (Innsbruck-Land district) caused a difficult operation on Sunday evening. The quick action of the fire brigade prevented worse.
Shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday, the sirens sounded in Götzens. While driving, a 40-year-old local resident noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. He parked his car and alerted the emergency services.
“The vehicle was completely on fire in the engine compartment. We controlled the fire with fire extinguishers until the water supply stopped. “We then had to cool the front area,” commander Matthias Saurwein describes the operation.
No injuries
The operation was over within an hour. The Florianis quickly managed to get the fire under control. Fortunately, no one was injured. The cause of the fire was probably a technical defect in the hood.
