action copied? – The city councilor of Cologne stuck to the lectern

Date:

Cologne city councilor Nicolin Gabrysch clung to the lectern during a meeting on Thursday night. She motivated her protest with concerns about the climate. In any case, she did not cause much unrest with her performance: the meeting could be continued after a few minutes.

The city politician carried her own solvent and was helped by an administrative assistant to “free herself from the lectern”. A spokeswoman for the city of Cologne reports this on Friday. After Nicolin Gabrysch taped her hand, she “asked for the solidarity of all the people here in the room who, given the drastic situation, are like me.” Earlier, she had spoken out about the city’s heat action plan, as reported by the German press.

Applause of sharing
This cannot and must not continue. “That’s why I’m now making sure things don’t go on as usual, at least here and now,” said the German local politician. There was applause from parts of the city council. Criticism came, among others, from the AfD, which demanded a fine or a call to order against Gabrysch. In addition, the chairman of the meeting ignored the incident. She would have said there was a second desk.

After a few minutes, everything could have returned to normal. In any case, the city council continued its session. Videos of the protest continued to circulate on social networks.

According to Gabyrsch, he has been a member of the Cologne city council for the voter group Climate Friends since 2020. Thursday, however, was the last meeting of the politician and self-proclaimed climate activist. The 30-year-old, who called for solidarity with the group ‘Last Generation’ on her social media channels, is passing on her mandate and now wants to focus mainly on digital politics.
