Stability test – snowfall in the morning: slipping on sidewalks

Date:

The sudden snowfall early Monday morning apparently left many people in Vienna cold. Many sidewalks were not prepared for the flakes in advance – and became a dangerous skating rink.

Those who had to leave the house early in the morning after 6 a.m. were greeted by a light snowfall. A nice attunement to Christmas, as long as you walk on scattered paths. Because not all sidewalks were prepared for the onset of snowfall. Some were most at risk of slipping.

While some were able to prove their stability after a short arm movement, other passers-by were less fortunate: “Please watch out, I just fell,” one pedestrian complained to krone.at. “The sidewalk is unspeakably slippery, I almost flew back there.” Fortunately, she was not injured, the woman explained.

According to the forecast, snowfall will decrease in the early morning. However, as reported, temperatures remain very low – across the country. All state capitals were in the red in the morning. The cold pole, however, was the state of Tyrol, which had the three coldest places in Austria on Monday morning! In the middle of the week, black ice threatens from Vorarlberg to the eastern lowlands, there is a high chance of black ice, according to the warning from the storm center.
