The climate activists who have occupied three lecture halls in Salzburg’s Unipark since November 18 will leave in the next 48 hours. The activists made this known in a joint final statement with the rectorate and the student council. In return, the rectorate made concessions and assured the squatters of safe behaviour.
“Since the rectorate supports the concerns of the students, it refrains from prosecuting activists from Erde Brennt Salzburg for participating in the occupation under criminal, civil or university law. It is assumed that the rooms will be cleared at the end of the occupation be delivered without objection’, is the end of a two-page final statement that was sent to all university members on Monday afternoon.
The university made numerous concessions to the activists. In the future, there will be more courses and study additions in the field of climate change and sustainability. The university squatters even want all students to take mandatory climate lectures in the future. However, the rectorate has not yet confirmed this.
