A Tyrolean couple from Innsbruck fell victim to telephone fraud on Tuesday, the “Krone” reported. In Bavaria, it donated tens of thousands of euros to the perpetrators to help the daughter who was guilty of an accident. The alleged perpetrators have since been arrested.
The crooks had pretended to be a police officer on the landline against the 86-year-old Tyrolean. After obtaining both her cell phone number and that of the man from her, an alleged “lawyer” called. The couple were led to believe that their daughter was at fault in a traffic accident and that they had to pay the prosecutor’s office a six-figure bond.
Finally, the money was handed over in Bavaria. Apparently, the woman also presented several valuables.
