Lockdowns, restrictions on people and testing: The Christmas season has been a stressful time for many since the start of the pandemic. However, the situation has now calmed down and we are facing an almost “normal” Christmas. But what should actually be taken into account?
According to environmental doctor Hans-Peter Hutter, you just have to “take care of each other a little. Best to test first. Ventilate regularly. That’s all it takes.”
Pandemic situation defused by vaccinations
However, one should pay attention to one’s own symptoms, because: “Running around alone with a cold and thinking that you only have an innocent cold is not hip.” The vaccination and infection figures also help. “The pandemic has now been largely defused, mainly thanks to vaccinations,” says complexity researcher Peter Klimek.
He is looking forward to a quieter Christmas season this year. It wasn’t always like this: in 2020 he was asked for advice on Covid measures. He just said the year was bad enough and he preferred not to answer.
Continue to test safe measures for family gatherings
Epidemiologist Gerald Gartlehner also explains that the population has built up a high level of resistance due to the infections. He would like to celebrate with the larger family again this year and will test himself before the party to be sure.
As a tip for a successful Christmas, Hutter adds: “Very important: always bring the right presents!”
