Cat “Felix” from Burgenland has had a heartbreaking odyssey. The missing cat suffered serious injuries, but thanks to animal-loving people and a courageous vet, the runaway four-legged friend is making amends. What happened.
The young cat’s bad luck started in front of his home in Krobotek in the Jennersdorf district. Instead of snuggling up next to “his” Hannah, 18, for cuddles, “Felix” strolled around. To escape the cold, the house cat crawled under Hannah’s grandfather’s car and made herself comfortable in the engine compartment.
With tail in V-belt
Grandfather had no idea which stowaway accompanied him as he drove off. After two kilometers “Felix” should have lost his grip and got caught in the V-belt with his tail. The cat ended up on the street, badly injured, he lay down. Grandfather noticed nothing.
“Felix” was found by a local resident soon after. His velvet paw at home had apparently sensed that an accident had happened to his fellow animal in front of the house and that further misfortune threatened him. Excited, the cat ran up and down, wailing incessantly – until the owner discovered “Felix”.

The resident immediately tried to reach veterinarians by phone, but in vain. Finally he was able to contact veterinarian Alexandra Huck in Güttenbach in the Güssing district. She had to amputate the four-legged patient’s tail, but managed to save his life.
A vet employee then took a photo of the operated find and posted the photo on Facebook: “Does anyone know him or does he miss him?” Claudia, a cousin of Hannah, immediately saw the photo, read “Location Krobotek” and spread the message on the social network. When Hannah’s mother heard the news, the desperate search was over.

Now “Felix” is back in his favorite place purring to himself. Not only Hannah is overjoyed, her grandfather, who shed many tears after the cat’s disappearance, was also relieved.
