Police officers were alerted outside an apartment in Vienna-Floridsdorf on Saturday afternoon after a 31-year-old attacked his mother with a hammer.
The woman was just able to fend off the attack and fled to a garden shed in the yard of the house. There she alerted the police. WEGA officials arrived and were able to arrest the son in the apartment a short time later.
Defendant refused to testify
The possible murder weapon, a hammer, was also secured. According to the police, an argument between the two over a minor issue in the household escalated. The suspect refused to testify. An entry and approach ban and a provisional arms ban have been issued against him.
The 31-year-old has been in custody ever since.
