A serious accident occurred with a passenger train in St. Andrä am Zicksee on Sunday afternoon. A driver may have missed the red light. He was taken to hospital with head and hand injuries.
Apparently because he had missed the red light at the free crossing, a 68-year-old train driver from the Neusiedl am See district drove onto the track just as a train was approaching. The car was hit by the railcar and thrown sideways. The front of the vehicle was completely destroyed by the force of the collision. The couple came to a halt only a few meters later.
Head and hand injuries
According to eyewitnesses, the driver sustained head and hand injuries. Rescue workers took him to the accident ambulance in Frauenkirchen. Train traffic on the route between Pamhagen and Neusiedl am See was temporarily interrupted.
