The report of the committee of experts shows an increase in the interprofessional minimum wage (SMI) by 2023 between 4.6% and 8.2%which would bring this compensation to a maximum of 1,082 euros gross per month in 14 installments compared to the current 1,000 euros.

This is evident from the report presented to the Ministry of Labor on Monday four possible uploads which are based on that 4.6% that the SMI would place at 1046 euros.

After this increase, two intermediate scenarios of 5.4% to 1,054 euros and of 6.6% to 1,066 euros are proposed to end with that increase of 8.2% to 1082 euros.

The second vice president of the Spanish government, Yolanda Diazhas defended that the SMI increases are a “success story” as they have proven to be a “highly effective tool” that lacks the “theorized effects” that the job cuts brought.

“The SMI has no negative impact on job creation,” said Díaz, who has avoided positioning himself on a figure while waiting to meet with the social agents.

The vice president has suggested that she will meet on Wednesday employers and trade unions to listen to their contributions before deciding on the SMI “recalling the mandate of Article 27” of the Workers’ Statute, which asks to take into account factors such as inflation, productivity, the participation of wage income in the economy and the economic situation.
