Crime scene investigation
Officials from the Styrian State Criminal Investigation Department conducted the further investigation together with an expert from the State Fire Prevention Service. There was no evidence of a violent crime. The time of death has already been determined with great probability on Saturday afternoon.
Lack of fresh air supply
The use of a mobile heating variant could be the cause of death, the police said in a broadcast. The residents used an emergency generator in the basement of the house, to which they in turn had connected a fan heater. Due to a lack of fresh air supply, the house filled with toxic exhaust fumes and subsequently led to death.
The Graz prosecutor’s office ordered the seizure and autopsy of the corpses.
