Strangers made a malicious joke last Friday in Lustenau (Vorarlberg). They moved a sewer shaft on Zellgasse so far that a hole in the shaft was exposed. A 59-year-old man missed the hole in the dark and was injured.
The man was on his way to the center around 6 p.m. when the accident happened. In the dark, he looked out over the eight-inch-wide opening and stepped inside with his left foot. He suffered minor injuries in the process.
It is not yet clear when exactly the lid was opened. In any case, the police are looking for the unknown perpetrators and are asking the population for information from the Lustenau police inspectorate or other departments.
