After the tragic death of a 90-year-old woman and her two sons in Fischbach (Styria), the official autopsy result has now been confirmed: forensic medicine has diagnosed all of them with fatal carbon monoxide poisoning.
Debts to third parties were virtually impossible from the start. Toxic exhaust fumes from a “mobile stove” soon became the presumed cause of death.
Bought just a few days ago
The 67-year-old son bought an emergency power generator, fan heater and various accessories a few days ago. According to the police, he should also have been informed that there is a risk when used in closed spaces. The man set up and put the equipment into operation on Saturday in the basement of the parental home where he lived with his mother and 68-year-old brother. However, there was a lack of fresh air supply and exhaust fumes to the outside were also inappropriate.
Just five hours of running
According to the researchers, tests showed that a life-threatening concentration of carbon monoxide was present near the “heater” after 50 seconds. The backup generator had only been running for five hours. The carbon monoxide should therefore have spread throughout the house within a short time.
