Date:

A 38-year-old woman was due to appear in Feldkirch jury court on Wednesday for stabbing her 35-year-old husband to death with a kitchen knife at their home in Schwarzach in Vorarlberg in mid-April. At the beginning of the trial, the mother of six pleaded partially guilty. The verdict came in the afternoon.

The formerly innocent woman from Vorarlberg has been detained since April. The mother of six children has been charged with murder. she would have to stabbed her 35-year-old husband.

Defense assumes manslaughter
The suspect’s lawyer, Alexander Wirth, sees it differently. He assumes manslaughter. His client was carried away by the murder in an understandably violent emotional state. Even the indictment states that the suspect was the victim of repeated violence by her husband for years.

The mother of six children was therefore in psychiatric treatment and filed for divorce in February 2022. She has four of the six children with the 35-year-old African, whom she married for the second time in 2011. He hadn’t worked lately, she had a job.

Murder weapon with an eight inch blade
On the night of the crime, according to Wirth, there was another argument. The murder weapon is a kitchen knife with a blade of 20 centimeters. The woman allegedly rammed the victim in the chest with full force during an argument. According to the indictment, the 35-year-old’s heart had been severed.

Immediately after the crime, his client instructed a daughter to call emergency services, the defense attorney said. But according to the report, the man died half an hour after the crime.

Good father but not a good husband
Their marriage was marked by constant insults and attacks. “But we kept getting together,” the 38-year-old sobbed in Feldkirch court. Due to the constant conflicts and violence, they wanted a divorce. But there were still their children, whom the woman also had to take care of financially. The 35-year-old stayed home with the children. “He was a great father,” the defendant admits. But not a good husband.

On the day of the crime, there was another argument: “He humiliated me again. That made me even angrier. The way he talked to me. He continued. Always the same sentences. I would deport the children because of my work!’ She had no recollection of the fatal stab to the chest at all.

The psychiatric expert: “Her control effects were very limited. In addition to depression due to overwork, there were also problems in the partnership.” Therefore, it was not found guilty of murder, but manslaughter. The sentence – seven years in prison – is not final.
