Spectacular traffic accident Wednesday afternoon in Innsbruck: A drunk driver lost control of his car on the Mühlauer Bridge, smashed through the railing and threatened to fall against the Inn. Fortunately, the car just got stuck.
The accident happened just after 12:30 p.m., police said. The 32-year-old driver left the track on the Mühlauer bridge and hit the bridge railing with full force. As shown in the photos, the car was just stopped by individual metal bars. Otherwise, the vehicle and driver would have fallen into the icy inn.
Driver was drunk
Fortunately, there were no pedestrians or cyclists on the sidewalk at the time. Explosive, however: according to the police, the 32-year-old driver of the accident was under the influence of alcohol. “The driver’s license was taken from him on the spot,” an official tells “Krone”.
The Innsbruck fire brigade secured and recovered the vehicle. The railing has now been reattached. Apparently no one was injured.
