Tension on the last day of school before the Christmas holidays at the Maxglan II primary school in Salzburg: Friday morning a fire broke out in the basement of the building. Fortunately no one was injured.
The professional fire brigade deployed with 16 men. The teachers and 246 students were already waiting outside when the fire brigade arrived. They were all unharmed and are doing well. The fire service quickly had the fire under control. In the meantime, “fire out” could also be reported.
Technical defect of a device
Around 9:50 a.m., a coffee machine or kettle caught fire in a lounge in the basement of the building due to a defect. There was no gross smoke development in the rest of the building. There are no classrooms in the basement of the school.
The students were rescued and taken to the neighboring Maxglan I primary school. The extent of the material damage is unclear at this time.
