At least it wasn’t rush hour so I probably would have noticed it sooner. A driver drove in the wrong direction in the early morning of Christmas Eve – on the Vienna Belt, of all places. Probably one of the reasons for the “accident”, which fortunately did not lead to accidents: 1.34 promille.
Patrol officers from the police of the city of Vienna-Josefstadt noticed the driver on the Währinger Belt around 4:45 am. The sight was probably a rarity: the driver, a 46-year-old man, was driving in the wrong direction, against the prescribed direction of travel. The officers arrested the wrong-way driver, who had left his driver’s license and registration certificate at home.
However, the suspect had brought with him a lot of thirst: according to police spokeswoman Barbara Gass, an alcohol test showed a blood alcohol content of 1.34. The car keys and the digital driver’s license were temporarily taken from the man. In addition, he should expect ads for driving under the influence of alcohol, ignoring the one-way rules, and not carrying a driver’s license and driver’s license.
