At least ten skiers were buried this Sunday following a snow avalanche at the Lech Zürs ski area in a mountain range of the Arlberg massif, in the state of Vorarlberg, which borders Tyrol, in Austria.
According to police information, the avalanche occurred around 3 p.m. (local time) in the Trittkopf area, at more than 2,700 meters altitude, and reached ski slope 134 in Balmen. At the moment, at least one person has been rescued, who has been injured.
Initially, eight helicopters left for the site of the avalanche, after which a search was launched in which more than 100 members of the emergency services participated, reports ‘Die Presse’.
Already in the early hours of Sunday, another avalanche occurred in the ski area of Sölden. The weather services of the province of Vorarlberg had warned of wind and fresh snow in the area the day before, according to local media.
