Two children died in a traffic accident in Slovakia on Christmas Day. The driver lost control of his car, a spokeswoman for the emergency services reported on Sunday. The car fell off an embankment and hit a wooden post.
The two children were thrown from the car, the spokeswoman for the rescue service said. They did not survive the accident. The driver and his passenger were rescued and taken to hospital. A helicopter was used for the work in Rudnany municipality in the Spisska Nova Ves district (about 275 kilometers east of the capital Bratislava).
Murder by negligence
Police have launched an investigation into suspected negligent homicide and negligent bodily harm. The driver probably did not adjust his speed to the road conditions, police said. After losing control, he fell off an embankment and hit a wooden post.
