The team of the Wiener Neudorf volunteer fire brigade was alerted on Tuesday morning to a spectacular traffic accident on the southern motorway towards Vienna. A small truck left the road at the Mödling exit and was catapulted over the sloping guardrail into a green strip. Numerous road signs, light poles and concrete foundations were destroyed in the flight. The vehicle eventually overturned and came to rest on the roof in the opposite direction.
Send almost unscathed
The driver was able to free himself from the wreckage and was only slightly injured despite the heavy blow. He received first aid from the Red Cross and was transported to a nearby hospital.
Due to the debris field, the fire department informed ASFINAG, set up a dual fire protection system and began removing the truck’s destroyed box body. The vehicle was then lifted with the help of a loading crane of the fire brigade, put on the tires and removed.
The rescue was completed after almost two hours and the accident site was handed over to ASFINAG. The Wiener Neudorf volunteer fire brigade was deployed with four vehicles and almost 20 men.
