Cause of death resolved? – A dead father, two suspected perpetrators

Date:

In the Schattendorf criminal case in Burgenland, all indications and estimates point to a cerebral haemorrhage as the cause of death.

Despite the Christmas holidays, the investigation into the shocking act of violence in Schattendorf is in full swing. As reported, a father of two was brutally beaten in front of a nightclub on the weekend before Christmas Eve. All attempts to quickly resuscitate the victim on the spot failed. There was no hope for the 42-year-old, the patient was declared brain dead.

The medical devices at Eisenstadt hospital that had kept him alive were turned off in front of the next of kin three days after the shocking incident. An autopsy has been underway ever since. Among other things, the exact cause that inevitably led to death must be clarified.

Blood vessels in the skull are ruptured
Experts now assume that a heavy blow to the head of Jürgen T. clearly caused a cerebral hemorrhage. “This means that one or more blood vessels in the skull have ruptured. A stroke can result from this,” says a hospital doctor.

According to a coroner, Schattendorf’s case is likely a cerebral hemorrhage. Cardiac arrest, which was considered possible at the start of the study, can be ruled out. “Otherwise the seriously injured victim would no longer have been available as an organ donor,” it says.

It remains to be seen who is responsible for the death of Jürgen T.. From the start, the investigation focused on a Syrian (18). Another suspect who was involved as a victim in a stabbing in Mattersburg in July is a 16-year-old from Burgenland. A brass knuckles found near the crime scene are associated with him.
