After fatal shots were fired at students at a university in the Russian city of Perm, a court sentenced the gunman to life imprisonment. The judge ruled on Wednesday that the man killed six students and injured 47 people in the armed robbery a year ago. The Russian news agency Interfax reported that he was sent to a prison camp for serious criminals.
In September 2021, the man shot himself with a shotgun on the grounds of the State University in the city of Perm, 1,200 kilometers east of Moscow. The perpetrator gave no motive for the shots.
Such acts of violence are now on the rise in Russia. Three months ago, a 34-year-old man caused a massacre at a school in the Russian republic of Udmurtia on the Volga River. It killed a total of 15 people, including 11 children, and injured more than 20 people.
