A 27-year-old from Gramastetten near Wilhering in Upper Austria had an accident with a blood alcohol level of 1.5. His small van overturned and crashed into a bridge railing. The driver was seriously injured.
A 27-year-old Gramastetten was on Thursday shortly after 2 a.m. with a small van in Wilhering on the B129 coming from Eferding towards Linz. In the vicinity of Schönering, he suddenly ended up in a ditch with his vehicle and after about 200 meters ended up in an embankment.
Alcoholic driver seriously injured
The van overturned and collided head-on with a bridge railing, tearing the entire roof off the vehicle. The small truck then got stuck on another bridge railing and the 27-year-old was trapped inside the vehicle.
He was freed by the fire brigade and seriously injured by the rescue team, accompanied by an emergency doctor, and taken to the Kepler University Hospital in Linz. The alcohol test showed a value of 1.5 promille.
