After a search of several days, a woman (40) and her three-year-old child were found dead in the Czech Giant Mountains. Members of the mountain rescue service found the two lifeless on Monday in the Rosenberg area, about three kilometers north of the popular winter sports resort of Pec pod Snezkou, police said.
More than 150 helpers took part in the search in the impassable and snowy terrain, and emergency services also came from neighboring Poland.
I didn’t come back from a walk
The exact cause of death must now be determined. A guest house owner had reported the 40-year-old Czech woman and her child missing after the two failed to return from a hiking trip. They would have had a sled with them.
The winter sports resort of Pec pod Snezkou (Petzer) is located in the northeast of the Czech Republic, almost 70 kilometers east of the German border town of Zittau. From here a cable car goes to the Schneekoppe (Snezka), the highest point of the Giant Mountains.
