Euskaraz irakurri: Irun, Baiona et Bordeleko alkateek loturen train “premiazko modernazioa” eskatu dute
The mayors of Irun (Gipuzkoa), Jose Antonio Santanofrom Baiona (Lapurdi), Jean-René Etchegarayand from Bordeaux (France), Pierre Hurmic, have signed a manifesto calling for the “modernization” of the existing railway line between these municipalities. The three mayors have expressed their “concern” about this.
As they recalled, in Irun “the new international station of Adif has already been launched within the urban transformation of the Vía Irun project” and “the connection to the border is not foreseen in the short term, nor in financial terms”.
According to the three council members, “it is necessary that as soon as possible and in order to confirm this alternative, an additional study is carried out by an independent company that assesses the calendars, the possibilities of intermodal transport, the technical feasibility, the expected travel times, costs and environmental effects of that alternative”.
In addition, they have called on all political, economic, social and civic forces to support “this alternative, a symbol of efficient and sustainable mobility”.
