The guests of a hotel in Rome have now experienced a particularly difficult night: a little girl had fainted, the alarmed rescue workers found poisonous carbon monoxide as the cause and informed the fire brigade.
This hit on Monday around 4.30 am and had evacuated 44 of a total of 46 rooms from the four -star hotel. A total of 96 guests were brought to safety, of which eight had to be taken to a hospital. There were also three minors. The little girl suffered a head injury after the inhaled carbon monoxide and fainted. Nobody floated in mortal danger.
To determine the exact cause of the exit, the hotel heating was guaranteed. Problems with an increased carbon monoxide concentration can exist if the thermal bath or smoke is not or only poorly maintained. Especially high temperatures or fans, the air from the apartment to the outside, can also become a problem. This is the case with an extractor hood or air conditioning.
The odorless gas is life threatening if the concentration is too high. When the gas in the blood flow comes over the lungs, it moves the vital oxygen. In the case of poisoning, consciousness and permanent organ damage, such as the brain and the heart.
