Outrage spread when the association against animal factories (VGT) published scandalous scenes of a Styrian AMA chicken farm. During a press conference on Wednesday, more photos of two fertilizer companies with the AMA quality mark followed. The prosecutor’s office in Graz is now investigating these three operators.
A tractor that just hurtles over the defenseless animals, carcasses in the cornfield – these photos of a Styrian chicken farm with the AMA seal of approval recently shocked. Now the VGT has published more videos and photos from two other Styrian AMA companies. And these shocks no less!
crushed animals
According to the VGT, the animals have a bald underside because the feathers on the chest and abdomen have broken due to fattening and the high weight. Skin infections are not uncommon, as are walking difficulties or lame legs. That and more is documented on the recordings. Also to be seen: an employee who climbs on a stationary animal during the inspection round in a meat shed with chicks and crushes it. Like other dead animals, it is collected and disposed of.
broken neck
In the third factory, the VGT reports, several times a worker was filmed throwing chicks against the bars of the drinking and feeding systems, breaking their necks. The same can be seen on farms two and three: weak animals, even those already lying on their backs, are simply kicked.
Denise Kubala and David Richter of the VGT therefore demand the use of slow-growing, healthy breeds and improved husbandry.
