The mountain rescuers of Tyrol had their hands full on Epiphany, not only because of two skirmishes between skiers in Kühtai and Steinach am Brenner. Hochzillertal in Aschau, 10.06 am: Two skiers – a man (21) and a woman (45) from Germany – collided with each other on the No. 9 blue run. “As a result, the 45-year-old was thrown against a ski resort panorama board and seriously injured,” said the police. She was flown by ambulance helicopter to Schwaz hospital. The 21-year-old was unharmed.

Hintertux Glacier, 10:10 am: A 17-year-old and a 42-year-old German skier collided on the number 10 blue run. “The 17-year-old was flown by emergency helicopter to Schwaz hospital with minor injuries and the 42-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries. flown to the Innsbruck clinic by the face.”

Solden, 10.30 am:

A German boy (11) was skiing downhill towards the “Ramsmoos” drag lift, lost control of the steering wheel and broke through a safety net placed by the ski school. As a result, the boy collided behind the safety net with three winter sports enthusiasts, a 12-year-old German, a 7-year-old Briton and a 45-year-old German 45. “The collision killed all those involved.” While the 11-year-old suffered injuries of undetermined extent in the spine area and was flown by emergency helicopter to the district hospital in Schwaz, the others with minor injuries went to medical treatment on their own.

Stubai Glacier, 12.15 pm: A 48-year-old Romanian was skiing on red run number 9 when he was suddenly run over by a skier coming from behind. The unknown skier left the scene of the accident after the collision. “The Romanian was taken to hospital by ambulance with a suspected shoulder dislocation.”

Kals am Grossglockner, 2 p.m.: A 28-year-old resident rode a rental sled on the ski or toboggan run through the valley. A 2-year-old sat on her lap. The girl’s father, a 31-year-old resident, rode downhill on his alpine skis behind or next to the toboggan. “At a left turn, the 28-year-old came off the toboggan run and ended up on the ski slope. As a result, she could no longer slow down the increasingly faster sled on the steep ski slope, whereupon the 31-year-old tried to stop her by using his skis to run ahead of the sled. All three occupants collided with a padded traffic bollard and were seriously injured.” After first aid at the scene of the accident, they were flown by two trauma helicopters to the district hospital in Lienz and the accident hospital in Schwarzach.

The 7-year-old was seriously injured in the impact, received first aid from the track rescue service and was flown by emergency helicopter to Zams Hospital.
