A 41-year-old Iraqi is said to have seriously injured his partner with a knife on Monday, then hit two police officers in a frenzy and could not be stopped until later. The “Krone” spoke to the neighbors of the man and his first victim.
“I came home from night shift. At 6:30 am I heard screaming from upstairs. This was nothing new. They had war every week. We all avoid them, no one wanted to have contact with them,” says a neighbor in the apartment building on Wiener Strasse in Linz, where the Iraqi allegedly stabbed his Romanian partner.
fear in the house
“We were all afraid of the man. He and his partner lived with us for three to four years. It used to be so quiet and peaceful. Since they moved in, we live in chaos. He kept beating her, she screamed and cried. It was last really wild two weeks ago. I don’t understand why the woman didn’t call the police. I certainly wouldn’t have let him back in the apartment.”
Daughter alone on the stairs
The neighbors say they reported it to the housing association, but nothing happened at all. They feel sorry for the daughter of the 42-year-old Romanian: “A beautiful girl. Then she sat alone on the stairs and cried terribly.”
