The Council of Ministers has, on the proposal of the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration and the Ministry of Culture and Sport, the special unemployment benefit for employees in the cultural and artistic sector.
The benefit period is four months and is awarded with a up to 100% of the IPREM for contributions exceeding the EUR 61 threshold. Below that level, an advantage of the 80% of the IPREM. The Ministry of Labor of the Spanish government has recalled that the benefit is compatible with the perception of image rights and intellectual property.
Likewise, the Royal Decree contains several measures to ensure the social protection of artists suits the characteristics of their professionin particular because of the irregularity of their activity, in particular to strengthen support for low-income self-employed people.
These new measures have the potential to achieve 70,000 people affiliates who are currently classified as artists in both the General System and the Special System for the Self-Employed. Employees in technical and support activities will also be able to enjoy this benefit.
