The Basque government’s Ministry of Labor and Employment has summoned Bizkaia’s metalwork unions and employers’ organization FVEM to a meeting next Monday the 16th, according to union sources.
The call comes after unions CCOO, LAB and UGT, the majority at Bizkaia Metal’s negotiating table, this Monday requested the mediation of the Basque government to try to unblock negotiations on the Bizkaia Metal deal.
Following this request for mediation, the FVEM employers assured that it would also be accepted, although they stated that they had not received a formal proposal. For its part, ELA believes that the negotiations should remain at the official table, although it has shown willingness to participate in the meetings that are called.
Finally, this Thursday, the Basque government issued a call to all parties to hold a meeting at the headquarters of the Autonomous Executive in Bilbao next Monday at 3 p.m.
Sources from CCOO Euskadi have indicated that the union majority, consisting of this union, UGT and LAB, will attend the meeting with a “negotiating spirit” because they have chosen to negotiate from the start.
ELA has also confirmed its presence for this Monday, as it believes they should be present at the meetings “where the conditions of the metalworkers are negotiated”.
