A fire in the stuffy atmosphere of an airplane is probably every passenger’s nightmare. Passengers on a flight from Taipei to Singapore had to experience it firsthand when a power bank in the cabin caught fire on Tuesday. Two people were injured.
Fortunately, the fire started while the plane was still on the ground. “Scoot flight TR993, operating from Taipei to Singapore on Jan. 10, returned to the gate after a customer’s rechargeable power bank overheated while the plane was grounded,” the low-cost airline said after the incident.
According to local media, the plane was taxiing to the runway when the fire broke out. Firefighters extinguished the fire before it could return to the gate. According to Scoot, the owner of the power bank and his companion suffered “minor burns to their fingers” and received medical attention.
