Forum – Climate glue: activism or coercion?

Date:

They protest, block and lubricate – everything according to their self -concept for surviving our planet. Many find their daily lives disturbed or even threatened and want to ignore, denounce or hold. Others see them courageous activists for the preservation of the earth. We of course talk about climate activists such as those of the last generation. Regardless of your own attitude, you must ask yourself: how far can activism go on behalf of the planet before it becomes coercion?

Even today they cause a sensation and lively conversation. One of the best known representatives of this movement is now threatened with the removal from Austria. However, they do not shy away from this attention, but consciously strive for polarization and want to remain present in the public discourse. The purpose of the means is the means, and these can be varied: whether it is with oil, color or droppings – after the street blocks, the smear of artworks and buildings in climate activists became fashion. Publications of airports followed. The more radical and more disturbing the protest methods became, the more the understanding of the population for the protesters.

Many citizens feel wrongly rated by the climate glues when they are stuck in traffic because of their actions and prefer civil disobedience to the major causes of climate change. The supporters of the last generation counter that it is about everyone’s planet and that nobody in the non -infected person should not be a man of man. The rescue of the earth is all concerned.

How do you think?

Where do you draw the limit between activism and coercion? Do you think the methods of climate activists are justified? How far can protest go without disturbing people’s daily lives? Are the actions of climate activists an effective way to bring climate change into politics? How would you respond if your daily activities were disturbed by activists? Let us know in the comments!
