Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has received a one-off donation of £1 million. This is evident from the register of additional earnings of British MPs. Accordingly, Johnson’s office received the money in December from British entrepreneur Christopher Harborne.
According to a Guardian report on Thursday, it is one of the largest donations to a politician in British history.
Speculation about a comeback
This should fuel speculation about an impending comeback for the Tory politician. Johnson will remain a Member of Parliament after his resignation. According to the report, Thailand-based businessman Harborne had previously donated £6 million to Nigel Farage’s Brexit party.
Surcharge for two speeches
The register also shows that Johnson received just over £250,000 in fees for two speeches in December. This brings his total earnings as a speaker since he left the Prime Minister’s office last September to around £1.2 million.
