Sisters attacked – bloody act in Berndorf: “He was a madman”

Date:

As reported, the deadly inheritance dispute in Berndorf (Lower Austria) may have been preceded by disputes between the three siblings for years. Residents have long wondered what “quirky neighbors” are.

As much as the sun shines over the picturesque town of Berndorf in the Trieste Valley, a shadow lies over the crime scene in Asylgasse. As reported, a 57-year-old brutally attacked his two sisters with a knife on Friday night, the eldest – an elementary school teacher (59) who taught in nearby Pottenstein – did not survive the attack.

She died in the driveway between the siblings’ adjoining homes. The second sister, 58-year-old Sabine, was still hospitalized in Wr. Neustadt in critical condition.

‘Even after the death of the mother, there was rumbling’
However, there are many indications that an inheritance dispute may have led to a bloody escalation. “Even after the death of the mother, about 15 years ago, there was a rumble between the siblings,” recalls neighbor Walter T. (56). As it turned out, there must have been a smoldering dispute over the legacy ever since.

When asked about the sisters’ murderer – who took responsibility for the bloody crime at gunpoint – the former childhood friend merely shook his head: “We took an apprenticeship together as a stonemason. But Gerhard never finished his education. Then he was in the army for a while – but I don’t know how he made his living in recent years.”

Apparently the man from Berndorf was not working. Five old cars are rusting away in the driveway. For the neighbors a sign that “Gerhard was the odd one out with a beater”.
